Who are the students?
We
have students enrolled from all countries of the world.
Expect to make new friends.
Am I welcome?
Our classes are as diverse as the immigrant population of
Northern Virginia. Instruction is in English, and at these
United Methodist Church locations.
These locations offer wheelchair accessibility: Centreville,
Crossroads, Dulin, Fairfax, Floris, Grace, St. George, Trinity
and St. Matthews.
Do you have a level of instruction
appropriate for me?
We offer three levels of classes - beginning, intermediate
and advanced.
How large are the classes?
Class sizes are small
- usually between 3 and 10 students, however the number
of students in each class varies by location.
How often do classes meet?
At most locations, classes meet twice a week for 2 hours.
Students are encouraged to register at more than one location
if their time and schedules permit. This way, a student
may have more than 4 hours of instruction per week. The
Fall semester runs from September through November. The
Spring semester begins in January and concludes in May.
Is there a fee?
A twenty dollar ($20) fee is charged for a full semester
of classes. If the student is unable to pay, we welcome
them on a scholarship basis.
What class materials are needed?
A wide variety of commercial adult ESL material is used,
depending on the needs and proficiencies of the students.
A class set of books is provided. Students may purchase
their own text at area bookstores if they wish.
Is childcare available?
Childcare is available at selected locations.
